[#1] Fave Free Image Editors - SUMOPAINT

Everyone uses Photoshop these days, but then, how many of you actually buys it? And there are time when our computer lags a lot that it takes hours to load Photoshop, when  you only want to edit one simple image. Been there, done that. There are a few good editors out there, but some needs you to download it, just like Photoshop. But here, we will list you our favourite "emergency" Photoshop which you can use to edit your images online, without having to download them. For this update, we will introduce you to SumoPaint!

We just found this recently, but totally worth to be listed here. Sometimes, our favourite online editor can't be loaded, due to heavy traffic so we need to find other alternatives, so SumoPaint is the answer! For someone who uses Photoshop the whole time, the interface looks familiar, with a few additional buttons on the left side of the area. What we like about this editor is its shape tool. There are so many to choose from, and they give you lots of shapes and styles option in each shape.

The other buttons are somewhat easy to find and manage, and for those who never uses Photoshop before, Sumo seems to be a good start to try your editing skill. However, there are some limitations for Guests, whereby you only get to have up to six layers per canvas. So, you need to register and log in to get more privilege.

Here are the interface while we created a banner featuring BTS, and also the result of the image that we edited using SumoPaint, made within 5 minutes!

LIKES:
DISLIKES:
  • No right-click option. We need to wander at first, where is the option to replace the right-click on Photoshop, and turned out it is on top of the status bar. But once you know where is it, it is easy for you.
Go on, try it out! Do share with us your comments or your thoughts about this editor, and share your artwork made using Sumo Paint too!

[FONTS] PIXEL FONTS SUGGESTIONS

Pixel fonts seems to be back "in-trend" these days among site owners. Although it is small, but it makes your sidebar looks nice and neat. Yes, most site owners use pixel or bitmap fonts in their link and sidebar section. There are a few nice pixel fonts which you can download from various sites, which is suitable to be used in your page, as well as your graphics. Here's our top 5

1. 04B03
It is used most of the time by our designer simply because it is easy to find - the first font in our hundreds of fonts in Photoshop XD That's one thing, and it is also looks neat in both uppercase and lower case. The best size to use is 8pt with anti-alias "none".

2. 5X5 Rounded
For those who needs a "game-like" pixel font, this is the best for you. It kind of reminds you of the traditional video games that we used to play when we were young. It is also best to be used in 8pt size, and with anti-alias "none"

3. Borgnine
This was recently found, which brought me to tears because how I wish this pixel font is available back when the blinkies craze is on. This is a neater version of 04B30 block-style, and it is nice to be used on blinkies or pixel arts. suitable font size is 10px and you don't have to put the strokes like the other pixel fonts because it is easy to read even without it.

4. Pixies
Just like its name, this font is super tiny, where the best font size to use is 7pt (it is not even in the default font size list in photoshop so you need to type down the number yourself) but it is readable, with dark strokes around it and it is suitable for link button, but not to be used as your site's font.

5. Wendy
Saving the best for last, Wendy is our no. 1 favourite when it comes to both site's font or graphic fonts. It looks neat with or without strokes, and the best size to use is 10pt with anti-alias "none"

Where can you get these fonts? You can find them mostly on DaFont.com or as an alternative, you can also find it at 1001 FreeFonts or FontSquirrel. If you can find them on Font Squirrel, then you are lucky because they are all 100% free, even for commercial use!

Hope you will find this article useful. Until the next writeup!
